Notes from BruceDVDs:
'Bruce Springsteen: The Seeger Sessions' is a slightly extended version of the documentary film that was included on the DVD side of 'We Shall Overcome'. The band can be seen recording tracks in Bruce's home studio and chatting about the origins and meaning of the music. It ran on US cable channel CMT during the month following the album's release. There is about 10 minutes of extra footage, notabley a now complete take of 'Erie Canal' and a previously unseen 'Jacob's Ladder'. There is also some additional banter with the band and Bruce can be seen listening to a playback of 'Froggie Went a Courtin'.
The source of the DVD appears to be a digital broadcast, so picture quality is very good. However, a relatively low bitrate has been used (leaving half the disc empty) and so there is still plenty of room for improvement. The disc has been authored with a nice main menu, but no song selection menu.
Most collectors will want to track this one down, but the superior picture and sound on the official release will probably outweigh the extra footage found here when it comes to repeat viewings. Original info file
