Bruce Springsteen with John Eddie & The Frontstreet Runners August 19, 1983 Brighton Bar Long Branch, NJ Source: Presumably Low Generation Soundboard Tape > Recorded and edited with Audacity as a .wav > Converted to .flac with TLH 01 Intro 02 Blue Suede Shoes 03 Rockin' All Over The World 04 Ain't That Lovin' You Baby 05 Jersey Girl 06 Carol [tape warp at 0.50)] During the summers of 1982 and 1983, Bruce was spending a lot of his time recording what would become the 'Born In The USA' album. But he also spent some time shuffling around bars and joining local jersey bands such as Cats On A Smooth Surface, John Eddie, Beaver Brown, and Midnight Thunder. This is the second time Bruce played with John Eddie, and many more have happened since. Brucebase lists two guest appearances by Bruce at this bar (one nearly a year before this). It also speaks of an audience tape but I am inclined to believe that this is really the soundboard tape here because that is what I found on Youtube. I do not know the last time this was shared but it was a long time ago because it is gone off the tracker. I could not find any bootlegs of it either, so it must be hard to find. The nice thing about this tape is the lack of tape hiss once the songs get going - only a little bit, which points to it being somewhat close to the master. It does have some static that reminds me of the Bottom Line 75 broadcast that has the same thing. It still has a degree of muddiness which is probably due to poor equipment - this is a small bar (that is still in business today by the way). Some recording notes: Bruce and presumably John Eddie occassionally overload the microphone, along with Bruce's guitar (mainly during the first song) when he goes for a solo. All this distortion originated at the board in the way it was mixed with levels set too high, so these issues cannot be completely fixed. But I was able to make it a little better by driving the gain down just a tad in the left channel. The stereo needed attention as the right channel was about half the volume of the left. I tried to even the volume out and panned the left channel over a bit and it is much better than it was before. I also boosted the bass and treble a bit. Finally, the tape ran a tad too fast so I corrected that. All in all, it sounds much much better, but there is still some warts here and there, namely some instruments occassionally becoming louder and then quieter due to somebody changing the volume on the board. Anyways, Enjoy! chrs1961815
