So the story goes, Tape Man Joe attended many concerts. Joe used a Sony D6 with either a Sony 929 or 939 microphone (memories have faded on which exact mic) and TDK metal tapes. Joe made a few copies and gave them to friends but never actively traded his recordings. Recently Joe lent a few of his masters to his friend, Jungleland user G (a generous collector himself who has lent tapes from his collection to help upgrade many shows). G asked me to finish off the transfers and post them. In what probably was just a weird coincidence, Bruce and the boys played the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena on Halloween night on back-to-back tours. Both shows opened with odes to Halloween. If you haven't heard this show before, it's a mix of story telling, prop sounds and prerecorded music that leads into a rare (for the BITUSA tour) version of High School Confidential. The show itself aside from the opening is quite unique. See the notes from Brucebase Wiki below. There are three known recordings of this show. Recorder One would be the most well known, the Mark Persic master. Recorder Two has not been widely circulated. Let's call Tape Man Joe's Recorder Three. Both Mark's and Joe's recordings have cuts towards the end of Badlands. Thankfully Recorder Three does not have the same cut. Thanks to AUDELISH70 for sending me Recorder Two to complete the show. The audience participation levels are higher than one would hope for on this recording. There is plenty of clapping and talking throughout. The folks near Joe also believed that their personal song recognition was worthy of very loud, high-pitched screams. Someday down the road when I have the time, I'll look to remove those noises. For now they remain. Thanks to Tape Man Joe for recording and sharing his tapes and G for transferring the files. 01.HIGH SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL 02.BORN IN THE U.S.A. 03.OUT IN THE STREET 04.WHO'LL STOP THE RAIN 05.ATLANTIC CITY 06.JOHNNY 99 07.MY FATHER'S HOUSE 08.REASON TO BELIEVE 09.PROVE IT ALL NIGHT 10.GLORY DAYS 11.DARLINGTON COUNTY 12.I FOUGHT THE LAW 13.THE PROMISED LAND 14.MY HOMETOWN 15.TRAPPED 16.BADLANDS 17.THUNDER ROAD 18.COVER ME 19.DANCING IN THE DARK 20.CADILLAC RANCH 21.POINT BLANK 22.I'M ON FIRE 23.DOWNBOUND TRAIN 24.BECAUSE THE NIGHT 25.BOBBY JEAN 26.RACING IN THE STREET 27.HUNGRY HEART 28.SHERRY DARLING 29.BORN TO RUN 30.DETROIT MEDLEY - TRAVELIN' BAND 31.TWIST AND SHOUT - DO YOU LOVE ME 32.SANTA CLAUS IS COMIN' TO TOWN Known faults: Tape flip during Badlands. Patched with four seconds of Recorder Two. From Brucbase Wiki: Tour premiere "High School Confidential" opens the set, after a lengthy introduction story about Dr Frankenstein including snippets of "Louie Louie" and "The Good, The Bad And The Ugly". "High School Confidential" is only played twice this tour. Excellent set also includes "I Fought The Law", "Trapped", "Hungry Heart" and "Sherry Darling". An unusual version of "My Father's House" features Bruce speaking rather than singing the opening lines of the "hard things that pull us apart" verse. Features particularly good versions of "Point Blank" and "Reason To Believe". Audience tape. Available from Mark Persic's master recording. Very nice sound quality and a great show available on CDR 'Halloween Confidential' (Ev2).
