Welcome back to the series of probably uncirculated audience recordings. So the story goes, Tape Man Joe attended many concerts. 
Joe used a Sony D6 with either a Sony 929 or 939 microphone (memories have faded on which exact mic) and TDK metal tapes. Joe 
made a few copies and gave them to friends but never actively traded his recordings. Recently Joe lent a few of his masters to 
his friend, Jungleland user G (a generous collector himself who has lent tapes from his collection to help upgrade many shows). 
G asked me to finish off the transfers and post them. 

The second of two shows in Hartford, we find Bruce and the band in fine form. Maybe being the final show before the 
Philadelphia stand had something to do with the performance? What’s not to love with a show that includes “Spirit In The Night”, 
“10th Ave Freeze-out” and “Backstreets” with the long introduction and an abbreviated “Sad Eyes” section. The show features the 
live premiere of “State Trooper”. It’s not fully worked up the powerhouse arrangement that would be found later on the tour.  
If you listen closely, there is a lady who was witnessing her first show. She becomes a fan only a few songs into the show. 

Joe's master now gives us two recordings from this show. It has that arena feel to it. It’s a tad boomy, a little distant 
but has a whole lot atmosphere to it. It is a clear upgrade to recorder one. There are two minor cuts listed below. 

As we present the 50th Springsteen master from Joe’s collection, I would like to express my thanks to Joe for recording and 
sharing his work, and to G for getting these masters to us.

Tape flip between "Darlington County" and "Glory Days". Patched with 2 seconds of Recorder One.
Tape flip between "Growin Up" and "Bobby Jean". Patched with 4 seconds of Recorder One.

Set features the live premiere of "State Trooper", the last song from Nebraska to be performed. "Growin' Up" features the bear 
story. "Backstreets" include an extended introduction and a brief "Sad Eyes" interlude in the middle. "Detroit Medley" includes 
"Travelin' Band". Following the show Bruce is interviewed by British disc jockey Roger Scott for a two-hour radio special titled 
A Conversation With Bruce Springsteen. The program was pressed on three records, distributed to over 200 Westwood One radio 
stations and broadcast over the weekend of December 14, 1984. The special consisted of the interview (which was conducted at two 
in the morning) and eighteen studio tracks.
