Notes:
Set list aficionados no doubt know this show as "the first time 'Rosalita' wasn't played in over ten and a half years," but there's so much more to this show that just what wasn't played.  And, yes, those same aficionados will also tell you that this show was postponed from the previous night due to Bruce falling ill after the first show on October 17 (many still suspect the "Tacoma Aroma").  

The set list speaks for itself, with highlights including "Highway Patrolman," a haunting "Point Blank," and the acoustic "No Surrender."  "Who'll Stop the Rain," which had been played a handful of times in the summer and early fall, became a regular throughout the fall starting with this show.  Jim the Dancing Bear and the Shadey Tree (how do we know it was a shadey tree?  it had its shades on!) made their appearance in "Growin' Up."

And while the omission of "Rosalita" must have been stunning for the long-time fans in the audience, the first set of encores that night more than made up for it.  In fact, that first encore stands up against any other three-song encore sequence ever; "Street Fighting Man" and "Wooly Bully" back to back was a tour highlight.  And then to start the second encore with the not-yet-rare "Follow That Dream" should make young(-ish) Springsteen fans green with envy.  The final encore of an early "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" brings this an amazing ending to this outstanding show.

This show had previously circulated on tape and, in the CD era, it was released under the title "Street Fighting Boss."  However, we are proud to present this show from a previously-uncirculated, and superior, source.  Just like the previous show, the recording did have some channel dropouts that we were able to work with so that the transition is seamless.  We hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed putting it together.
