Previously, weÕve re-visited Murfreesboro, Lexington and Memphis. With this release comes both an alternate capture and upgrade to the wonderful December 2nd Baton Rouge show. It appears the only circulating version for mass consumption was released on CDR as ÒBoss On The BayouÓ. That release is a very good capture with the main drawback being itÕs missing ÒThe RiverÓ completely. This has created some question on whether it was actually played or not, there is a clear cut on that release and it has been assumed it was played but not included due to technical difficulties. With this release of an alternate second source, we get confirmation that it was indeed played and that it is played beautifully. The recording is excellent and should be considered an upgrade with a strong vocal presence and good instrument separation throughout. There also very little audience noise surrounding the taper. Only faults being a two second patch from recorder 1 needed on the opening notes of ÒProve It All NightÓ, a small cut to the opening notes of ÒCover MeÓ (unfortunately the recorder 1 source suffers from the same cut) and a very small amount of second generation hiss during the slower passages. None of the faults, in my opinion, bring the show down a notch. The show itself continues along the same basic set structure of the end of the first leg of the tour with Bruce and Co. interchanging a couple of songs from the previous night. The previously noted ÒThe RiverÓ makes a rare first leg appearance, the beautiful solo version of "No Surrender" and Bruce continues giving each of these southeast shows a local flavor by including a regional hit during ÒDetroit MedleyÓ. In Tallahassee it was ÒTallahassee LassieÓ, in Murfreesboro it was ÒWabash CannonballÓ, in Lexington it was ÒMy Old Kentucky HomeÓ and in Memphis it was ÒMemphis, TennesseeÓ. Tonight we get a foot stomping crowd pleasing version of the classic ÒNew OrleansÓ. IÕm pleased to offer up this show, now complete and upgraded, filling in another gap for your listening pleasure. mjk5510
