Original The Beatles version
Got a good reason
For taking the easy way out
Got a good reason
For taking the easy way out, now
She was a day tripper
One way ticket, yeah
It took me so long to find out
And I found out
She's a big teaser
She took me half the way there
She's a big teaser
She took me half the way there, now
She was a day tripper
One way ticket, yeah
It took me so long to find out
And I found out
Aah, aah, aah, aah, aah, aah
Tried to please her
She only played one night stands
Tried to please her
She only played one night stands, now
She was a day tripper
Sunday driver, yeah
It took me so long to find out
And I found out
Day tripper
Day tripper, yeah
Day tripper
Day tripper, yeah
Day tripper...
DAY TRIPPER is a song written by John Lennon with Paul McCartney (and credited to Lennon/McCartney) and originally released by The Beatles as a single in December 1965. This was a double A-side single, with WE CAN WORK IT OUT on the other side. The above lyrics are for the original The Beatles version of DAY TRIPPER as released in 1965.
As far as it's known, Bruce Springsteen has never performed DAY TRIPPER live in full, however, Garry Tallent occasionally played a snippet from the song as his solo during TENTH AVENUE FREEZE-OUT on The Reunion Tour. See the live 15 Jun 1999 version of TENTH AVENUE FREEZE-OUT for example. But on 29 May 1999 in Berlin, Germany, Steven Van Zandt unusually played DAY TRIPPER during his solo instead of Garry Tallent. See the live 29 May 1999 version of TENTH AVENUE FREEZE-OUT.
