Original Bill Conti version
Trying hard, now
It's so hard, now
Trying hard, now
Getting strong, now
Won't be long, now
Getting strong, now
Gonna fly now
Flying high now
Gonna fly, fly, fly!
GONNA FLY NOW (THEME FROM ROCKY) is the theme song from the 1976 movie Rocky, composed by Bill Conti with lyrics by Carol Connors and Ayn Robbins, and performed by DeEtta Little and Nelson Pigford. It was first released in 1976 on the film's soundtrack album, Rocky: Original Motion Picture Score. It was also released as a single in 1977. The above lyrics are for the original Bill Conti version of GONNA FLY NOW (THEME FROM ROCKY) as released in 1976.
Although Bruce Springsteen has never performed it in full, Curt Ramm played a snippet of GONNA FLY NOW (THEME FROM ROCKY) on trumpet as an introduction to ROSALITA (COME OUT TONIGHT) three times during the Working On A Dream Tour, all in Philadelphia ─ the famous Rocky theme is often played at sporting events in Philadelphia. See the live 20 Oct 2009 version of ROSALITA (COME OUT TONIGHT) for an example.
