Live 28 May 1993 version
Bruce Springsteen: | Well, it's all right (it's all right) |
It's all right (it's all right)
It's all right to have a good time
'Cause it's all right, whoa, it's all right
Bruce Springsteen: | Now, when you move it slow |
When the lights are low | |
Move it slow, it sounds like more
And it's all right, whoa, it's all right
Bruce Springsteen: | I said, now, it's all right (it's all right) |
Yeah, it's all right (it's all right)
It's all right to have a good time
'Cause it's all right, (whoa, it's all right)
Come on, Bobby! | |
Bobby King: | When you wake up early in the morning |
Feeling sad like so many of us do
Hum a little soul | |
Make yourself a goal | |
And surely something's got to come to you
Bruce Springsteen: | You know it's all right (it's all right) |
It's all right (it's all right)
It's all right to have a good time
Oh, it's all right, girl, it's all right
Bruce Springsteen: | Now, when you move it slow |
The lights are low | |
Move it slow, and everybody knows
That it's all right, yeah, it's all right
Come on, Bobby, once more!
Bobby King: | Someday I'll find me a woman |
Who's gonna love and treat me real nice
Hum a little soul | |
Make yourself a goal | |
From morning, noon, and night
Bruce Springsteen: | And you know that it's all right (it's all right) |
It's all right (it's all right)
It's all right to have a good time
Yeah, it's all right, (whoa, it's all right)
Well, let's hear you now! Here we go!
Bruce Springsteen: | It's all right (it's all right) |
It's all right (it's all right)
It's all right (to have a good time)
(It's all right) | |
Oh, that sounds good! | |
One more time! | |
I said, now it's all right (it's all right)
Yeah, it's all right (it's all right)
It's all right (to have a good time)
(It's all right) | |
That's right | |
Bruce Springsteen: | I want to thank you for showing us a good time tonight (it's all right) |
We hope we showed you one (it's all right)
Because the evening sun is sinking low (it's all right to have a good time)
The clock on the wall! ('cause it's all right, whoa, it's all right)
And remember, no matter what anybody tells you, it's all right (it's all right)
No matter what anybody says, it's all right (it's all right)
Yeah, now, it's all right to have a good time
'Cause it's all right, oh, it's all right
No matter what anybody tells you, it's all right (it's all right)
Oh, let's bring it home, now (it's all right)
Oh, let's bring it home, now
Let's call this a house party now (to have a good time)
Kick it here, Zack! ('cause it's all right, whoa, it's all right)
Bruce Springsteen: | I said that it's all right (it's all right) |
Yeah, it's all right (it's all right)
It's all right to have a good time
Oh, it's all right, come on, it's all right
It's all, baby, it's all right (it's all right)
Yeah, it's all right, now (it's all right)
It's all right to have a good time
Oh, it's all right, yeah, it's all right |
[Bruce Springsteen (spoken outro):] Thank you, Stockholm — as always, you're the greatest! (chuckles) We love you! Thank you so much!
IT'S ALL RIGHT is a 1963 song by The Impressions. See the original The Impressions version for more details.
Bruce Springsteen performed a song called IT'S ALL RIGHT in 1971 (see the "Live History" section below). It is unknown if it's a cover of The Impressions' song or an original sharing the same title.
The above lyrics are for the live 28 May 1993 performance of IT'S ALL RIGHT at Stockholms Stadion in Stockholm, Sweden, during World Tour 1992-1993. The song was the show closer and was played in a full-band arrangement as a duet with 1992-1993 band backing vocalist Bobby King.
Other versions of IT'S ALL RIGHT were also officially released.
An early Bruce Springsteen handwritten song list (see scan below) is recalled with some degree of confidence by one of The Bruce Springsteen Band members as emanating from one of the band's July 1971 bookings at D'Scene in South Amboy, NJ. The Bruce Springsteen Band made two consecutive Thursday evening appearances at the club, on 22 and 29 July 1971. They headlined two gigs each night, one at 9:00 p.m. and one at 11:30 p.m., with Sunny Jim opening. The handwritten song list was auctioned on the It's Only Rock 'N Roll online auction website in June 2006. The bid started at $500.00 and reached $2221.44. The document contains a list of 22 songs, including IT'S ALL RIGHT. This is not a setlist, but many (or possibly all) of the listed songs must have been performed at the 22 and 29 Jul 1971 shows at D'Scene.
IT'S ALL RIGHT was performed 8 times during World Tour 1992-1993 (104 dates, June 1992 to June 1993). These were eight consecutive shows, from the ninth-to-last date to the second-to-last date of the tour. The 24 Jun 1993 show in East Rutherford, NJ, was billed as "Concert To Fight Hunger" (see the live 24 Jun 1993 version). On this tour, the song was the show closer (except on the last date) and was played in a full-band arrangement as a duet with 1992-1993 band backing vocalist Bobby King. The live 24 Jun 1993 version of IT'S ALL RIGHT was released on the Brendan Byrne Arena, New Jersey June 24, 1993 official live download in 2018.
IT'S ALL RIGHT was performed with an all-star cast on 01 Mar 1994 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, NY, during the 36th Grammy Awards ceremony, as part of a medley in honor of Curtis Mayfield. See CURTIS MAYFIELD MEDLEY for more details.
A snippet of IT'S ALL RIGHT was often used during The Reunion Tour, as part of TENTH AVENUE FREEZE-OUT, during Springsteen's introduction of the band. See the live 27 Jun 2000 / 01 Jul 2000 version of TENTH AVENUE FREEZE-OUT for an example.
