LAND OF 1000 DANCES is a song written by New Orleans R&B singer and songwriter Chris Kenner who released it as a single in November 1962. The song was also included on Kenner's 1966 album Land Of 1000 Dances. The above lyrics are for the original Chris Kenner version of LAND OF 1000 DANCES as released in 1962.
Bruce Springsteen performed LAND OF 1000 DANCES in full a few times off-tour in the eighties and nineties. See Springsteen's live 16 Jul 1994 version for more details. He also used throughout his career bits of LAND OF 1000 DANCES into other songs live, mostly the famous "na na na na na" hook, which was first added by Cannibal & The Headhunters in their version of the song. See the original Cannibal & The Headhunters version.
Thanks Jake (ol'catfishinthelake at BTX and Greasy Lake) for the lyrics help.
