Newspaper reissue: Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.

Mainly to discuss Bruce Springsteen collectables: official vinyl, CD, tape... and maybe some physical bootlegs too.

Newspaper reissue: Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.

Post by volker »

There seem to be 3 versions of the newspaper reissue of Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.

http://www.springsteenlyrics.com/collec ... ?item=6936
Spain - 2009-02-08
Part of a series of 24 Bruce Springsteen albums and home videos reissued in Spain in 2008-2009 by newspaper "El Mundo".
By the way your page uses both "El Mondo" and "El Mundo" on the text

https://www.discogs.com/release/10388401
Spain - 2008
Sony BMG Music Entertainment - 88697353962
Spain-only release published as part of an exclusive Springsteen CD album reissue series available with special Sunday editions of Catalonian newspaper “El Periódico”. Disc comes in a “mini-LP”-style cardboard picture sleeve accompanied by a unique, fully illustrated 42-page hardcover booklet containing Spanish text written by domestic Springsteen expert Salvador Trepat.
Barcode and Other Identifiers
Barcode: 842565204187
Barcode: 00013

Portugal - 2009
Planeta DeAgostini - 0103221010

Specifically for the Spain version: Are there really two newspaper issues, “El Periódico” and "El Mundo/Mondo"? Discogs claims that the barcode IS different.

Yes, “El Periodico” and “El Mundo” are two different newspapers without any relation. First they were released by “El Periodico” and a year or so latter by “El Mundo”

I’ve seen copies on sale in Brasil; I don’t know if they exists a brazilian release or they are regular portuguese copies exported.

The portuguese release came with a nice box to contain the books.

The “El Periodico” releases were minilp format but not “El Mundo” (they had a tray in the book to contain the cds)

This is a subject I tried to research a few years ago, but I didn't get anywhere due to lack of information online. I know that there are five such series:
- Spanish "El Periódico" series
- Spanish "El Mundo" series
- Portuguese "???" series
- Italian "Corriere Della Sera" series
- Italian "La Repubblica" and "L'Espresso" series

Later I will have a look at the information I gathered back then and post here. Maybe we can complete the list.

A question to the Spanish collectors. Please confirm to me the following:

- The "El Periódico" reissues come in mini-LP sleeves, that are sealed with the book. See example below.
- The "El Mundo" reissued are housed inside the book on a plastic tray. See example below.

- And what about the DVD releases? Is it true that they all come in their original DVD cases? If so, then how can we distinguish between an "El Periódico" reissue and an "El Mundo" reissue?

Sorry I didn't see this reply when I wrote my last post. The question remains, what is the difference between the two issue when it's a DVD?
